Beginner
Simple lawn: start with a wired model. Wire-free if you refuse the cable. Open the comparator, tick two models, click Amazon.
Answer two questions first: what is the real lawn area, and will you accept laying a cable? Those two answers remove most of the catalogue.
Step 1: measure your lawn
Measure the area actually mowed, minus beds, terrace, paths and buildings. That figure sets the size class, not the plot area.
Step 2: choose navigation
If a cable is acceptable and the garden is simple, wire is the cheapest rational choice. Otherwise choose between RTK and LiDAR. There is no universal winner.
Step 3: compare for real
Use the comparator to place two models side by side on the same rows, then open the Amazon product page. The price is read there.
FAQ
Where do I start when buying a robot mower?
Measure the area actually mowed, then decide whether you accept a cable.
Can a beginner install it alone?
Yes for a simple garden. Sloped or heavily split plots justify an installer's advice.
Wire or wire-free for a first install?
Wire is cheaper and more stable. Wire-free only wins if you refuse to lay a cable.
What size to start with?
A model rated for twice your real area to leave margin.
Do I need a connected model?
Not essential. The app adds comfort, not better cutting.
