Wire means laying a cable, RTK an antenna, LiDAR mapping. Install time depends on your garden, not on marketing.
Boundary wire: a cable is laid or buried around the lawn to define the zone. RTK: a reference antenna sits high and the robot positions by satellite. LiDAR: the robot maps its surroundings as it drives, with no cable or antenna.
Boundary wire: the longest install
The most laborious but most stable option. The cable runs the full perimeter, obstacles become loops. Half a day to a day, done once.
RTK: fast but sky-dependent
The antenna sits on an open, ideally elevated point. Faster than wire, but accuracy drops under dense tree cover.
LiDAR: no infrastructure
The robot orients itself with its sensor and builds its map while driving. No cable, no antenna. Accuracy depends on visible features.
