Small lawn

A small lawn does not need a flagship. A wired model or a small wire-free one listed on Amazon.fr is often enough. Compare the box area claim with headroom, then open Amazon.

A small lawn usually means under 300 m² of grass. At that size a robot does not need to be fast, it needs to be reliable along edges. An entry-level machine typically mows 200 m² in one to two hours.

The safety margin on rated area

Manufacturers rate area for a clear rectangular lawn with no trees, beds or slope. In practice, halve the figure for L-shaped gardens and cut it to a third when there are islands to work around.

Wire or wire-free

Under 300 m² the boundary wire usually stays the rational choice: cheaper, no antenna, no signal loss under trees. Wire-free pays off mainly if you refuse to lay a cable.

FAQ

Which area should a first robot mower cover?

Pick a model rated for twice your real area. For 250 m² of broken-up lawn, a 500 m² rating fits.

Is an entry-level mower enough for 200 m²?

Usually yes, provided you check cutting width and edge behaviour. Wired models are the cheapest at this size.

Do I need wire-free on a small lawn?

Not necessarily. Wire-free costs more and only wins if you will not lay a boundary wire.

How long does a small robot mow each day?

Typically one to three hours depending on area, cutting width and slope. Figures are not comparable across brands.

Can it handle several separate small zones?

Yes, if they are linked by wire or by a stored map depending on the technology. Check the model page.
