Winter

Most robots are stored dry over winter. Follow the maker's manual, not an invented calendar.

Updated 2026-09-12 · Ruben Torney

A robot mower does not mow in winter. Left outside with its battery in place, it takes months of frost and damp. That is when batteries degrade fastest.

What makers recommend

Almost always the same: clean it, remove or disconnect the battery, store it dry and frost-free, and charge the battery to an intermediate level rather than full or empty.

What happens on restart

In spring the robot resumes its map or its cable. Check blades, wheels, sensors and the condition of the cable or antenna.
