RTK guide

RTK uses a reference antenna. Navimow, some Goat O600. A clear sky helps. Check whether the antenna is included.

RTK stands for Real Time Kinematic, a satellite positioning technique that corrects measurement error using a fixed reference station. In a garden that station is an antenna on an open point.

Why the antenna matters

Accuracy depends on satellite reception, both at the reference antenna and at the robot. A badly placed antenna degrades the whole system.

RTK limits

RTK needs sky. Under dense tree cover or between tall buildings reception drops and the robot can lose its position.

No. The reference antenna replaces the boundary wire.

Does RTK work under trees?

Accuracy drops under dense cover. That is its main limit.

RTK suits large open areas; LiDAR is more tolerant on wooded plots.
